Pumpkin update!
Just got an updated photo of Pete's pumpkin and wanted to share.. it's now near 350 pounds!
Pete - what is the largest pumpkin you've ever grown and is this on track to beat that?
This only my second year trying this out and last year I had one this size but it developed a bad split and the fruit died. This year I am growing three plants so I will at least have a pumpkin for halloween...maybe. I don't have the equipment to move a pumpkin anywheres so unless someone wants it for display or it keeps on growing at new heights,it will probably live and die where it sits.Such is the life of a giant gourd!
This pumpkin also has a bad split at the stem but it is still hanging in there and I am using an electric fan to keep things dry and captan/sulfer as a fungicide, which I did not do last year.
Pete...are you competing in Windsor this year?
